Mind Reading: Man vs. Machine

Event date: 20th March 2015

Is mind reading possible? Claims for the existence of clairvoyance have not been supported by scientific evidence and science is yet to prove the ability of the brain to gain information (about an object or person) through means other than the senses. But recent research using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) has provided demonstrations of thought identification. Dr Aneurin Kennerley, Gaia Brezzo and the Sheffield Neuro Girls explored and explained all this at this special event, held at the University's Upper Chapel building on Norfolk Street, which culminated in a stage performance pitting Looch, a professional mind-reader, against fMRI technology!
